Why should I hire you? How do I know you can help me?

It really comes down to trust. If we have never met and no one has referred you, then you will have to make a decision based on the testimonials that you read, the blog that I write and the free consultation that you are offered. Can I hire you for a short-term project?

Yes. You can hire me to help you accomplish specific goals or projects.

 

How long should I commit if I start working with you?

There is no minimum but I recommend at least 3 months (6 sessions). You always have the option to discontinue coaching immediately if the partnership is not working for you.

 

How does the money back guarantee work?

After each session, you have the 2 options:

  1. Continue the Coaching Relationship – You pay the agreed upon fee.
  2. Discontinue the Coaching Relationship – I will refund you any payments you have made for that particular session and the coaching relationship ends.

Example: You bought a 12 sessions package for $1500. This is $125/session. You are happy with the first 3 sessions but after the 4th session, you want to discontinue the coaching relationship. You will be refunded $1125 because you were satisfied with the first 3 sessions. If you cancel after your first session, you will be refunded the full $1500. (Please note that this is just an example and may not be my current rates)

 

What is the difference between a coach and a mentor?

This is a nice explanation by Michael Ehling (www.balancecoaching.com):

A mentor knows from experience and teaches that knowledge. Mentors can say, "I've been there. I can help you avoid my mistakes and use my successes." Mentoring conversations look like this, "Here's what you need to do next."

A coach uses a process to help you understand where you are, where you'd like to go next, what the next steps to get there are, and how to handle any roadblocks (typically stemming from perspective). 

 

How is coaching different from consulting, therapy and/or having a supportive friend?

Consulting provides temporary or intermittent solutions while coaching is a consistent, ongoing relationship where the coach stays with the client to help them achieve their goals through skill building and change management. Consulting often involves telling people what they should do while coaching focuses on helping the client discover the solution on his/her own.

Coaching is not therapy. Coaching is focused on the client and provides the support and strategy to make changes based on the awareness a client holds. Coaching is movement oriented and action based. Therapy brings understanding and awareness of the past to a client to help resolve conflicting issues they have impeded them.

A supportive friend is great but they rarely hold the objectivity and distance a coach would. A coach is a professional who is trusted to work with you on the most important aspects of your life and to offer a different perspective of the truth because of the emotional distance the professional relationship offers.
