You're right kishmisherie - 2 months is not a lot of time at all. If I could, I would love to stay longer in each country. At the same time, everywhere we went, we tried to be present in that moment as opposed to thinking about the next place we were going to. Similar to everyday life, I feel that one can be present at any given moment and it doesn't matter if you're moving or staying in one place.

I think it is great you went traveling but I don't understand how much of the world you really saw in 2 months alone! That must have been pretty hectic. You keep talking about the present moment but did you really have time to "stop and smell the flowers" on your travels?

For me 2 months is good for a country or two--not all continents!

Thank you, Robert! I do my best to learn Chinese :-). As you said, though it is not required in major cities like Beijing and Shanghai, but I'm sure it will benefit me tremendously when I arrive in a smaller town.

That's great! I'm glad to see that you're actively planning your travels. Chinese will be very helpful for you in exploring China as it is difficult to find English speakers outside of the major cities. Best of luck on your travels!

Robert, thank you for your reply.

I've been too Madrid, Paris and Warsaw (Poland again). In China, I stayed in Beijing for 2 months. My plans for this year are Helsinki, Finland (I'm taking this trip in 8 hours actually! Going to stay there during the upcoming weekend). Then, a couple of months later, I'm thinking of going to Italy and Switzerland to meet my good friend. Also I miss China very much (I even started learning Chinese! :-) ), so I dream of going there again this year.

Hi Alex,

Thank you for your comment. It's always great to hear about other people who take the opportunity to travel. I've met so many great people on the road. Where did you go in Europe and China? Where do you plan to go this year?

Hi Robert,

This article, and the previous one - Gone Travelling - have strengthened my decision to travel more. In fact, I didn't go anywhere outside my country until the year 2012 (Well, I've been to Poland in 2009, but it was a very short trip).

In 2012 I've been to Europe (2 times) and to China. And the experience was magnificent. This year I want to keep up the pace, so I plan to take 3-4 trips. I think I'm not yet ready for Around the World travel, but I hope to make it in the year 2014-2015.

Excellent photos, Robert. I enjoyed going thru them and reading your wonderful insights. Incidentally, I'm going to Istanbul and Budapest in Sept/Oct. this year. Would you mind emailing me some tips/advice especially with regards to these two places as it will be my first time to visit these two cities, in particular.
