Welcome to Embrace Possibility!

Hi, my name is Robert Chen and my life's mission is to help others unlock their full potential. I study successful people, apply their insights to my own life, and share the practical strategies that truly make a difference.

Robert Chen Embrace Possibility

I created Embrace Possibility as the place to organize and share that knowledge. The premise is simple: living the life you've always wanted isn't just possible — it's within reach, once you know how. Everything here is built to show you how, and it keeps growing as I keep learning.

If you want to dive right in, start with the full potential philosophy and take the Reality Assessment to see how you're doing across the five core growth areas — Relationships, Health, Career, Finances, and Personal Development. Reflecting on these five gives you a clear picture of where to focus your energy next.

A little about me

Over the years I've had the chance to teach and coach in a lot of different settings. I'm a lecturer at the Wharton School, where I teach leadership and managerial communication, and the author of the Wall Street Journal bestseller Selling Your Expertise. As a senior advisor at Exec-Comm, I coach executives and teams on communication, presence, and influence. And I'm the founder of Vana Lab, where I help teenagers build the same real-world skills the executives I coach so often wish they'd learned sooner.

Different audiences, same craft: helping people get clear on what they want, communicate it well, and follow through.

How this all got started

Growing up, I thought passion was reserved for a select few and everyone else just followed the same script: get good grades, graduate from a good school, land a stable job, start a family, retire. Finding your passion felt naive.

That changed after I read two books — The Pathfinder by Nicholas Lore and What Color Is Your Parachute? by Richard Bolles. They opened my eyes to a different possibility: that you can find and pursue your passion through active, continuous self-reflection.

Since then I've lived a life of more purpose, clarity, and steadier happiness. I found that once you have your own dreams, you stop spending your time chasing everyone else's. You do what you want to do, and you know why you're doing it.

Naturally, I wanted to share that with the people I cared about. And I realized something: most people don't live up to their full potential not because they don't want to, but because no one ever showed them how. I'd recommend those books to friends, but not everyone wants to work through a 300-page book.

So I combined my interest in personal and professional growth with what I do naturally — connecting with people, and making complex ideas simple. That became the Know What You Want program, originally a two-day workshop on finding work you care about, now available as a self-paced online course.

Teaching it — and seeing the feedback from people who took it — confirmed what I most wanted to do. Alongside the courses, I coach individuals and groups to get clear on what they want, build a plan, and stay accountable to it. Through that work and my own journey, I've come to believe that reaching your full potential means growing across five core areas, in balance. I've used my own life as the lab ever since — testing what I learn, and building what works.
